Lady Christine Claybourne is trying to escape an arranged marriage which in her eyes is only happening to get her lands.  If she stays single until she is 27, one month from now she will inherit all.  She is currently on the run from John Preston, who has a betrothal with her, signed by her uncle.  She takes the position of a governess and just her luck she finds out that she has taken it in the home of John Preston’s parents.  When her charge traps her up in a tree the man who comes to save her is William Preston, the younger brother of John.

William quickly determines who Lady Christine is and a bargain for his silence is struck.  This bargain involves one night with William.  But, Lady Christine is stunned when she is so drawn to William that she changes her mind as to what will happen in the future when she thinks William is beyond her reach.

The Lady’s Bargain is a fast paced historical romance.  Ms. Dicken has written a strong woman character that knows what she wants to do with her life and has a plan on how to get it.  When her plan goes awry she takes the time to determine what she really wants and sticks to that.  The Lady’s Bargain is a quick sexy read for those who like historical romances.
