Julie's
wealthy background has given her the poise and charm to deftly
handle any social situation. Her lover Gail, however, is a
little too cheeky and mischievous for most conservative social
functions. Always in trouble, Gail can't seem to help
herself. Normally Gail knows exactly how to make things
right, but this holiday season Julie is more sensitive and
uptight. Julie's not-so accepting mother has invited them
home for the holidays. Meeting Julie's family isn't really
high on Gail's to-do list, but she loves Julie, and so off to
Colorado they go. Can their relationship survive Christmas
and Julie's family?
I must admit
I am not a fan of lesbian romances. Of the few I have tried,
I usually hated the characters or the story, and the sex left
me dead below the waist. I never intended to read For
Better or Worse, but it was part of a special
holiday-themed Single Shot bundle (still available from
Torquere Press). I can't believe that if not for saving a
little money, I would have missed out on such a beautiful love
story! Gail and Julie are complete, real characters. I think
I fell a little bit in love with them. Superbly
characterized, they pulled me into their lives. I loved the
simplicity and honesty of their tale.
Packed with
simmering sensuality, witty humor, and real emotion, For
Better or Worse is an exquisite story that I can't
recommend enough! Even if you think you don't like lesbian
romances, pick up Jodi Payne's For Better or Worse.
It will make a believer out of you! |
