Aithne has left her family and home to travel and hopefully
discover her twin-flame. One of Aithne’s gifts is that of
reading the cards and she has been employed by a carnival as
a Tarot reader. Like her, this carnival holds secrets of
many including the owner, Milcham. Milcham Phoenix has
been out in the world searching for his twin-flame for
nearly a thousand years and his time is almost up. Milcham
has search long and hard, but she has been illusive. He
still has a bit of time before having to return for his
re-birth. However, besides searching for his twin-flame and
making sure that the carnival will be okay while he is gone,
Milcham must also deal with his new employee, a card reader.
Aithne and Milcham come to an uneasy truce after the
beginning sparks. When Aithne’s life is placed in danger,
Milcham finds that he cares for Aithne more than he would
have ever thought possible. Aithne and Milcham draw closer
together and are discovering that they just might be the
missing twin-flame of the other. Secrets are being held by
each of them that might destroy the budding love and even if
they can overcome those, there is a danger to both of them
that could not only cost them their love but their very
lives.
Don’t Tempt the Phoenix is a bit darker
in nature than other stories by Ms. England, and it was
perfect for these characters. Aithne has missed much in her
life by her determination to help her brother survive. Now
released from her commitment and able to find her own life,
and love she has left everything she knows and loves.
Milcham has lived forever by holding true to his beliefs and
honor. Finally able to go out and search for his partner,
he never expected her to push his true beliefs. Aithne and
Milcham don’t only have to come together in their love but
they must also fight against their own beliefs of good and
bad. Reading about the journeys that both Aithne and
Milcham had followed and still had to go through was
amazing.
I alternately loved and disliked the characters as
Don’t Tempt the Phoenix went on, however by the end
I was rooting for them and wanted to help them in their last
struggle to be together. Don’t Tempt the Phoenix
has amazing characters and will push your emotions
throughout. I enjoyed that plotline that literally defined
the balance between good and evil. I actually turned
around and re-read it before I was comfortable in writing my
review. I must say that not only will paranormal and
shifter lovers want to read this but so will anyone that has
ever wondered about the mystical Phoenix.
Note to Readers: Don’t Tempt the Phoenix is
the second book in the Don’t Series and can stand-alone.
However, the characters in the first book are included at
one part. |
