At a coed slumber party for adults on a
lush tropical island, almost anything can happen. At least
that’s what Maureen Henderson is counting on. The
voluptuous beauty can’t wait for the chance to seduce Dane
Markham, her high school crush. What Maureen doesn’t know
is that she’s not the only one with seduction in mind. Dane
is just as eager to finally have Maureen both in his bed and
in his life. But when a model-thin high school rival shows
up bent on claiming Dane for her own, will Maureen believe
in herself and in Dane enough to make their relationship
last?
I must admit, the idea of seducing that
elusive high school crush is an appealing one, almost as
appealing as the idea of a fun-filled slumber party on a
private island. In Pajama Party, Melinda
Barron blends both tempting notions into a red-hot romantic
tale. Dane is characteristic of the perfect hero –
gorgeous, sexy, successful, and determined in his pursuit of
the love of his life, but Dane makes mistakes, and those
help to humanize him so as to not make him just a beautiful
ideal. Maureen is even more endearing as a heroine I could
connect with. She isn’t a skinny, perfect heroine; she’s
real, she’s charming, and she is at times both vulnerable
and self-conscious.
The only things I would ask for in this story are more
insight into Dane and Maureen’s history and perhaps to watch
their love story unfold more completely. In other words,
the story went a bit too fast. However, as it stands I
found Pajama Party to be enchanting and
enjoyed watching Dane and Maureen find their happy ending. |
