For two
years, Raven Remington has wanted his assistant, Vanessa
Kaye. With all his secrets, however, he knows it’s better for
him to resist temptation. Unfortunately, the temptation
becomes harder and harder to resist, and one night they
succumb to their mutual desire.
Vanessa has
been attracted to her boss for a long time, but always told
herself he was unattainable. Now she has him, but she knows
she can’t keep him. Will the secrets of the past keep Raven
and Vanessa apart?
Midnight Temptation is a sweet, satisfying, and deeply
emotional read. Raven is the epitome of the tortured hero.
He’s been keeping dark secrets that hold him apart from his
family, even his twin brother, Sky. Everyone thinks the worst
of him, and he tells himself he doesn’t care. When his desire
for Vanessa gets out of control, he doesn’t like it, because
he doesn’t believe he has a heart to give. Raven’s deep
sadness and inner turmoil were touching, and I really wanted a
happy ending for him. Vanessa is the perfect heroine for
Raven. The secrets she’s keeping are even more painful than
his, and they make her believe she will never have a chance at
love and a family. I usually get mad when a hero and
heroine’s problems seem like they could be solved by a
conversation or two, but Vanessa’s past is so painful, and so
heartbreakingly real, that I had no trouble believing every
minute of her conflict. Throughout the long, emotional
journey Vanessa and Raven took to love, I felt their emotions
right along with them and hoped they’d finally get their
well-deserved happily-ever-after. The supporting characters,
members of the Remington and Kaye families, help to flesh out
the story by providing information about the past and support
in the present. The family secrets that were revealed in this
book made me want to go back and pick up the first Remingtons
book, although this one stood on its own perfectly well. Dee
Tenorio did a great job of creating a fascinating family I for
one want to learn all about. With a tortured hero, a heroine
with a painful past, lots of emotion, and explosive family
secrets, Midnight Temptation is an excellent
read! |
