Homicide detective James Shea befriended Ed Kelly after his daughter Carmen was killed. So when screenwriter Griffin Drake and his friend Daisy meet with Ed to discuss making  a movie about Carmen’s story, Jim is there to see that the story be told with respect to the Kelly  family.  As an intense relationship begins to form between Jim and Griffin, distance and outside influences may get in the way of what could be the best thing that ever happened to both of them.   

Although Griffin has had more luck finding relationships than Jim, neither of them have ever found the deep connection they do with each other in Love and Loyalty. Romance surprises them both. I love how they slowly fall in love and how they come to depend on each other. They become good friends as well as lovers. Watching Jim, who is usually stoic and reserved, fall hard for Griffin is endearing.  Tere Michaels does an amazing job with the characterization in Love and Loyalty. I really felt like I knew Jim and Griffin. From the romance to the complicated plot, Love and Loyalty is an amazing love story written by a very talented author.
