Ariel is an officer of the law from Miami on the trail of a killer.  Her brother’s killer to be exact and as such, she has no business getting mixed up with Alexandre Padget.  She doesn’t have the time or the inclination to further their physical relationship and so tries to disappear only to be thoroughly surprised when the next day she is told that she now has a partner to work with.  Who? None other than Alexandre Padget, the man she is trying to forget.  Besides, Ariel has a secret hidden side to her personality and sometimes it purrs. 

Night Prey by Cynthia Breeding was a great story.  I found Ariel to be cocky and stubborn at times but her almost uncontrollable infatuation with Alexandre was sultry and steamy and simply sexy.  I love how she had to keep her shape shifting ability on the down low, especially since she has no idea that Alexandre is not as he seems either. Night Prey is worth reading more than once – I am rereading it now!
