Hugh D’Abernon, Marquis of Darley is on
a spying mission during the Crimea War when he stumbles upon
the beautiful Aurore Clement, who is also doing her part to
help win the war. Passion blooms between them as Darley
escorts Aurore home to France. But a tragedy in his past
prevents him from admitting his love for Aurore even to
himself, and he leaves Aurore behind when he returns to
England. Once he realizes that Aurore is what he needs to
heal his wounded heart will he be able to convince her to
give him another chance with her heart?
I always enjoy Susan Johnson and At Her Service
was no exception. Filled with erotic and sensual love scenes
the book steams page by page until the end. And Ms. Johnson
always does a wonderful job of allowing us to visit the
characters from previous books. My one complaint would have
to be that it seems to be the norm for Susan Johnson’s
heroes to spend more time in other women’s beds than in the
heroine’s but fans of her books are aware of that and
prepared. However, it does detract from the emotional
connection between the hero and heroine for this reader.
Regardless, readers who are looking for a hot, steamy read
will definitely find it with At Her Service. |
