Suddenly
alone and penniless, Anya finds a way to make it on her
own. In the process, she meets Orthias, an attractive giant
that lives and works nearby. After getting to know him
better, Anya embarks upon a plan to seduce him, only to find
out that things are not always as they seem.
It was a
pleasant change to read a story where the giant isn’t the
bad guy. The extra twist is that he also becomes Anya’s
love interest. Orthias is a talented, hardworking guy with
a heart to match his size. Anya is an intelligent and
resourceful person, and her independence and reasoning
inspire her to come up with a rather cloak and dagger plan
to move in on Orthias. You’ll have to decide if it was
questionable or if you would have leapt at the chance to do
the same. In the end, I admired her because she didn’t
allow the hardships she faced to force her into a far worse
situation.
The Wench and the Giant is a spicy fairy tale
sparkling with Viola Grace’s trademark humor and warm
relationship building. I’ve come to appreciate her
delightful and playfully candid style. Each of her stories
carries its own flavor and charm that’s true to the personal
touch I’ve come to associate so much with her writing. |
