His need
for sexual dominance leads Derek Graves down a path littered
with discarded lovers. He searches in vain for a lover who
will be submissive but yet strong enough to handle his need
to administer pain as well as give pleasure. With his
fantasies unfulfilled his life has became a vicious circle
until he finds himself drugged and forced against his will
onto the receiving end of sexual torture. Bruised and
scarred physically and mentally Derek sets out to find the
man who did this to him and extract his revenge. His old
haunt Blue Ruin proves successful in him not only finding
his attacker, but he also finds Blue.
Homeless
and working as a waiter at the Blue Ruin, Shane ‘Blue’
McGowan’s life changes drastically when Derek saves him from
his would be attacker and brings the drugged young man to
his home. Blue turns out to be the willing submissive Derek
has been searching for and so much more.
Some Kind of Stranger was a good, well-written
story. Derek is a sexual deviant who finds he can dish it
out, but he can’t take it, but in his defense what was done
to him was above and beyond anything he would have done to
another person. It took me a while to warm up to him, but
the more he was with Blue the more he became someone I
liked. I liked Blue from the start, he’s a sweet character
with a quick wit. I think he’s a lot stronger than what he
gave himself credit for, he endured some tough times at the
hands of classmates and he overcame them with his dignity
intact. Derek and Blue healed each other by being what the
other needed. Blue allowed Derek to act out his sexual
fantasies by being the submissive participant. He was
strong enough to be submissive yet equal in the way he got
what he wanted as well. Derek was Blue’s safe haven, the
person Blue was able to be himself with and show his
vulnerability knowing that Derek would comfort him and make
it all better. With the drama and suspense surrounding
Derek’s attacker and Blue’s relationship with his father,
Some Kind of Stranger is well worth reading. |
