Skylar Morissey is alone in her world,
and that’s the way she likes it. One night a year she
performs a spell that brings two of the hottest men she has
ever seen into her bedroom for twenty-four hours of passion
and ecstasy. Life is easier this way. No entanglements, no
worries, no relationships. Her biggest problem is her
neighbor that won’t accept that she isn’t interested in him
in any way shape or form. Despite the fact she thinks he is
gorgeous and sexy.
I have read Obsidian Mirror by Tawny Taylor a
couple times and I am still of two minds. I liked it
overall, but I found it disturbing at the same time. Ms.
Taylor presents us with a woman trying her best to overcome
a past that would affect anyone’s present. Because of that,
there are a couple points that are unsettling as we learn
about Skylar’s history and some of her experiences that
helped form her. I am not sure of the quick resolution to
some of the issues brought up either, but there was
reference to previous actions that helped bring about those
resolutions. I will look for more stories by Ms. Taylor, but
most likely ones without so much past angst. |
