| Cherie Bonne was protected all her life in a century were
slavery was the accepted norm. With two very rich white
fathers, an African American Mother and six brothers, she
was never exposed to the harsh realities of prejudice. On
her eighteenth birthday she was finally being introduced
into society and engaged to the most eligible bachelor,
Etienne. Etienne de Vicomte de Alsace knew his destiny and
it was Cherie, but his plans were dashed when Cherie was
kidnapped. Drugged and shipped away in the night by a
brothel owner, Cherie’s eyes were opened. Though protected
at the brothel Cherie was again kidnapped but this time, by
a powerful man. Diego de Aguilar had found his match, after
his possession he was not willing to let Cherie go, despite
the little issue of being married to royalty. A son-in-law
of the Spanish King and the Captain of the Spanish Armada,
he was on the run from a father in-law who wanted heirs.
But, the net closes in on Diego as his wife and Etienne
finally catch up with him.
I must confess, I went to this author’s blogspot before
My Cheri Amour was released and read the first three
chapters, they were explosive. I was drawn in and
anticipated the continuation of the great beginning. To my
disappointment, there was no trace of the great chapters I
had read a few months earlier. After the first chapter, all
the fat, the juicy stuff was stripped away and what was left
was just a weak structure and unexplored characters. There
was too much trimming for me it wound up being a huge
disappointment and let down. |
