Lola is at the end of her rope and
decides to get her life together by going to a cabin in the
middle of nowhere so no one can hear her scream. The
caretaker is creepy and tells her not to touch the
typewriter. With that cryptic warning ringing in her ears,
Lola settles in.
Lola thinks she is going crazy when she
hears whispers and feels phantom touches. Is the man she’s
seeing real? Will she spin out of control?
Misery Loves Company is
not your ordinary romance. Ellen Ashe brings creepy to a
whole new level and I love it. Misery Loves Company
is heart wrenchingly sad. If I wanted happiness and light,
this wouldn’t be the book for me, but I like something a
little dark that tugs on the heart strings and makes me
think.
Misery Loves Company should be in a category
all its own because the happily ever after is there, but not
in a traditional since. I don’t want to say too much
because, as with most of Ms. Ashe’s work, it might give
something away. I think that is why I love Ms. Ashe’s work:
the fact that she makes me try to figure out what is going
on. |
