Todd Martin is bored and, as an immortal vampire, that’s not a
good thing. Nagged by his sister, Claudia, to attend a
charity “service” auction, Todd can’t wait to escape until he
spies a mouse being toyed with by vicious rats. The mouse in
this case is Gwyneth Reilly, who is currently up for bid and
her reputation and self-esteem are being shredded by two
jealous women, the auctioneer and the organizer, who just
happens to be Gwen’s cousin, Dora.
Gwen appreciates the save, sort of, but she’s suspicious of
why this handsome man wants anything to do with her. Gwen is
aware of her own qualities, lacking though they may be, and
nothing in her limited experience helps her to understand what
is going on between them. Todd’s not quite sure why he saved
Gwen either. But the scents of her blood and skin intoxicate
him and the fact that he can’t read her emotions, except for
very strong ones, intrigue him. But what will happen once
Gwen realizes that Todd is a vampire?
Ok, I admit it, the publisher’s excerpt got me. To catch my
attention with such a short blurb from the book was enough to
convince me to read the whole thing. And I wasn’t
disappointed. Vampire’s Pet has both hot sex
and an interesting plot, and I loved the growth of Gwen from a
shy mouse, who would let anyone run roughshod over her, to the
woman she becomes. The only thing I did not like is how
pathetic Gwen was in auction at the beginning of the story.
Gwen was subjected to verbal abuse and potentially other types
of abuse and she didn’t try to do anything to remove herself
from the situation. But this did not stop me from enjoying
Vampire’s Pet and I think you will like it too. |
