Kaine almost doesn’t believe what he is
hearing. In order for Hope’s husband to make a profitable
business transaction, he has offered Kaine the use of his
wife, Hope, for the night. Kaine has wanted her for four
years; years in which he yearned for her but knew she was out
of his reach. Agreeing to her husband’s offer, Kaine has no
idea how much one night with Hope will change his entire life.
Hope knows now that she had inadvertently
not understood what her husband just said. When he
emphatically repeats himself, Hope’s despair is complete.
Having nowhere to go and no one to turn to, she follows
through with his orders. Orders that make her crave for
something out of her reach. In one lust filled and sensual
night, Kaine shows Hope exactly what love and desire are all
about. Hope knows that in a few short hours her life has been
changed forever.
I started out not liking the premise of
A Garden in the Moonlight because of Hope’s
marital status. Then I realized that it takes more than a
piece of paper to make a marriage, and with that I came to the
conclusion that Hope’s marriage was in trouble to start with.
Still not a fan of adultery, I settled in to just finish the
book. Imagine my surprise when I read the words and emotion,
and felt each character’s pain and insecurities. I am so glad
that I didn’t put A Garden in the
Moonlight down. I watched Hope emerge as a woman in
charge of her own life and I was able to witness Kaine coming
to grips with past pain and making a life decision of worth.
My final conclusion? A Garden in
the Moonlight by Samantha Lucas was an extraordinary
read. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. I liked it. |
