Detective Devon Harrington is a member of
the Extranormal Investigations Unit, a team in charge of
tracking down the perpetrators of non-human crimes. Recently
his focus has been on a serial killer called the Black Hole
Killer, but the last murder seemed to be targeted at a
particular victim – the Maitri. Now Devon finds himself put
in charge of the personal safety of the mesmerizing woman
thought to be the sole reason the Veil remained in place.
Lady Helene Du Solaire is a member of the
Order of Light. A priestess raised on duty and trained to be
the keeper of the Veil. When her student is killed before
her, she finds herself given a vampire guard to insure her
safety and that of the world. But is she safe from Devon?
The Veil is a fascinating look at a paranormal
infused future world where humans and non-humans exist and
there is always a threat of being invaded by the Others
again. I loved the interesting take on vampire and
shapeshifter lore that makes up a part of H.A. Fowler’s
world. Terrific characters and a fast-paced, ever-changing
story make The Veil a book to be read in a
single sitting! |
