Mia is a Forest Service biologist.
She’s on Cougar Mountain trying to commune with nature to
get the city out of her and nature back in. Stark lives on
Cougar Mountain and he has been waiting to claim Mia. The
Cougar Spirit told him that Mia was “the one.” Mia wants to
be defiant when Stark chases her down and ties her up, but
she can’t deny that she is attracted to him. She still
wonders about his sanity, but she is overwhelmed by her
feelings for him. Mia and Stark are part of a bigger plan,
one that will bind them together in passion and nature
Cougar’s Captive starts off ethereal and
mysterious and then becomes more realistic. I enjoyed the
ethereal part more because the normalcy lessens the magic of
the story. The emphasis shifts from a BDSM romance to a
story of saving the forests, which isn’t a bad thing, just
not what I was expecting. Stark is sexy and Mia is strong.
They definitely make a good match. However, I didn’t feel
connected to the characters or the story because a lot
happens in a short period of time. I also anticipated the
BDSM to be much heavier as well. Vonna Harper usually writes
stories with intense BDSM and I was eager for that.
Cougar’s Captive is a good story, but not one I
would highly recommend. |
