Joanna
Robinson is competing in a charity race against Miles
McClintock, a sexy PI she has a history with. She’s
determined to win first place, preventing Miles from winning
for the fourth year in a row and earning the most money for
her charity. Miles takes every opportunity to flirt with her
and drive her crazy during the race, though. Who will win
their battle of wills?
Go For
Miles was a funny and surprising read. I’m not
usually a fan of the first-person narrator, but in this case
Penny Dawn really made it work. Joanna’s resistance to Miles
seems reasonable at first because she paints him as a great
lover, but a jerk. As the story progresses, however, Joanna
slowly reveals that her association with Miles is a lot more
complicated than it seemed at first. I liked the way Miles’
character became clearer both through Joanna’s revelations and
his actions in the story. And what’s not to like about a
character who’s described as “MacGyver-meets-Billy-the-Kid?”
The chemistry between Miles and Joanna was hot, and I liked
the race angle. The only thing I didn’t like about this story
was some of Miles’ dialogue near the end, which was kind of
chauvinistic and cheesy. Overall, though, Go For Miles
is a quick, fun read, and great for a hot summer
afternoon! |
