Arlin has been stuck in limbo for a
while - not being part of a pack, but not outside of one
either. He’s chosen to follow his cousin Tala to Las Vegas,
but she has found her mates and Arlin, while not necessarily
shut out, isn’t part of the bond the three share. When he
is forced to act as protector to Ruth, a non-were that knows
their secret, his lust goes into overdrive and he can’t seem
to fight his territorial feelings toward her. However, Arlin
refuses to recognize what this means – he doesn’t want the
responsibility of a mate or of forming a pack. These are
things that he would have to do in order to claim a mate and
keep her. Will Ruth’s pull and the danger she faces be
enough to get Arlin moving?
Ruth has been a vet for a long time, a
result of her admiration for wolves and an attraction she
has never been able to fully explain. Then when she is
placed in the middle of a turf war between rival packs Ruth
must face certain truths about herself and the young Arlin.
But will she be brave enough to face what that entails?
As in the previous Alpha books, Treva Harte takes the reader
on a roller coaster ride that will leave you breathless in
Alpha 5: Heal. Revisiting old characters from
previous books was an unexpected pleasure as it reveals so
much about them as it does about the new ones we encounter.
This time Arlin is on center stage and he has to do some
serious growing up to do in order to step up to the plate
and prove his worth as a potential Alpha of a pack. Ruth,
however, is a mystery that slowly reveals itself to be
Arlin’s salvation and path to manhood. The chemistry is
explosive and the encounters are unbelievably erotic, in
true Treva Harte fashion! The plot is fast paced and if you
don’t pay close attention important facts will skate by you
in a second. I really wish this story had been longer in
order to fully explore Arlin and Ruth’s relationship and the
pack they imagine starting. Alpha 5: Heal is
a sexy read that will entertain you as it turns you on and
on and on! |
