The last person Dana Sue Sullivan wants
to see is her ex-husband, Ronnie. Unfortunately, when their
daughter, Annie, gets sick, Dana Sue has to tell him, and
that means he’ll be coming back to Serenity, South Carolina
to see her. Ronnie knows he has little chance of getting
back in Dana Sue’s good graces after cheating on her, but
he’s willing to do anything to win her back. While Annie
struggles with anorexia, Dana Sue struggles with increasing
weight gain, the threat of diabetes, and Ronnie’s insistence
that he’s here to stay.
They say that something good comes from
something bad and for Annie, Dana Sue, and Ronnie in A
Slice of Heaven, it certainly does. While Dana Sue
has to deal with the scary and potentially life threatening
implications of Annie’s eating disorder, she has the added
hardship of trying to forgive and forget what Ronnie did to
her. I don’t know if I could have. Ronnie’s remorse is
genuine and his love for Annie and Dana Sue is obvious.
While there are many ups and downs in A Slice of
Heaven, the ups outweigh the downs in this tender
love story. |
