Aaron is in love
with Nathan, but the situation is complicated. Nathan is a
lot older, he’s Aaron’s best friend’s brother, he’s about to
move away, and then there’s the fact that Aaron isn’t out.
For years, Aaron has only lived half his life while pining
away for Nathan. What Aaron doesn’t know is that Nathan has
too, and he’s done hiding it.
Held Captive
is a poignant story full of angst and longing. It takes a
lot of heartache and a long time for Aaron and Nathan to
find happiness. I’m not sure what’s worse: wanting true love
and being alone, or knowing it’s within reach but not being
able to touch it. For Aaron and Nathan, the wait is almost
unbearable. They have to see each other but hide their
feelings, and Aaron has to see the man he loves in the arms
of another. It’s heart-wrenching. The ending of Held
Captive is as happy as happily ever after gets.
