Ian
McAllistor is a werewolf. While roaming the woods in search
of food and a good fight, he stumbles upon Douglas and Gray
vacationing in the woods. Ian gets the fight he craved with
Douglas, but when Gray approaches and abruptly puts a stop to
it, Ian wonders about the control Gray apparently holds over
the huge wolf. Gray invites Ian to stay for dinner and over
the course of the meal Ian is well informed about the unique
relationship Douglas and Gray share. Ian has been on the
defensive his whole life; first from three overbearing and
aggressive sisters and then by trying to make his way on his
own, so Gray's offer to play with both him and Douglas
intrigues Ian enough to say yes.
Ian spends
time with Gray and Douglas, but it’s not until he meets Khalid
Diya al Din that Ian discovers his true self. Through
Khalid's mastery, Ian learns about acceptance, desire, and
unconditional love.
Passion and
emotion dominate the pages of Obedience Training.
What I liked most about this story was watching Ian grow,
becoming comfortable and at peace with himself. Mya writes it
beautifully. Gray and Douglas play a very important role in
Ian’s life, but Ian really blossoms under Khalid's loving
control. Although admittedly it took me a while to get used
to Khalid's golem form, I became as enamored with him as I was
with Ian. |
