Marissa is dismayed to find out that her father, Davo, is still alive and on the planet Darinth.  At the urging of her now dead mother via a letter, Marissa makes contact with her father and for months they correspond.  Her father wants her to come visit his planet and continuously guarantees her safety.  Marissa has heard about her fatherís planet and while she wants to meet him and the family she has never known, she is scared.  She knows the reputation of Darinth and although she has secretly yearned for a man to dominate her, she was a firsthand witness to the cruelty of a dominating male by watching her stepfather hurt her mother and Marissa wants no part of that lifestyle.  Finally worn down, Marissa agrees to travel to Darinth to meet her father. She has no idea what is in store for her when she arrives in Darinth and she never in a million years imagined meeting someone like HIM.

Kytar takes one look at the daughter of Davo and knows he has to have her, so resorts to a small matter of kidnapping, not knowing how he will come to crave Marissa for his very own.  He needs Davoís political support and when he uses the magic within him to get Marissa to agree by her own free will to leave with him, he thinks his plans are falling into place.  However, everything changes in the blink of an eye with the powerful bonding both experience.  What starts as a simple abduction turns into a need to master Marissa for all time.

Marissa fights the bonding and collaring that Kytar wants with every breath, even though deep down inside of her, she yearns for the same.  Will Marissa ever give in to her desires and Kytar or will she be able to be free of him forever?

Mastering Marissa has to be one of the most powerful BDSM novels I have read in a very long time.  Completely grabbing my attention from the first paragraph, I had to read this book in one sitting. I became totally enthralled by Kytar and his desire to tame Marissa, and cheered him on from the sidelines.  Marissa made me a bit crazy with her stubbornness, but I can fully relate and understand why she was so against becoming Kytarís companion.  It made the mastery that much sweeter when she capitulated.

Mastering Marissa might push buttons some readers have with its D/s aspects, but I can honestly say that I found it to be enlightening and very unapologetic in its intensity.  This baby made me sweat and tingle in all the right places so much that I am ready to book at flight to Darinth myself!
