In his profession which deals with
Civil War paranormal phenomena, Brandon’s interest
surrounding a grave called “The Vigilant Soldier” peaks his
interest. After setting up his gear to monitor all activity
at the grave and the surrounding area Brandon falls asleep
only to be abruptly awakened by a stranger wishing to pull
him out of a storm that has set in. In a twist of events,
his rescuer offers Brandon a deal. Stay with him for a week
and in exchange he’d get all the information on the soldier
lying in the grave that he could ever hope for, the whole
story.
The Sweet Flag has one of
those storylines that flashes from past to present in the
telling of the soldier’s tale. The plot was actually
different and I liked it, but I just could not seem to
connect with the characters; Brandon, I just could not seem
to get a feel for and his rescuer, Ron, I did not like the
tactics he used. There are a lot of sex scenes, although not
done in great detail, and most take place while under the
influence of mind altering substances. The Sweet Flag
is an okay story, but not one I would shout from the
hilltops. |
