In a futuristic Earth, Cassandra is one
of the daughters of the Wolf-Clan. She is on a quest to seek
an understanding between her house, the House of Lochinvar,
and the House of Yarishet, and then to acquire a talisman that
was long ago taken from her people. Along the way, her mother
summons her and tells her to seek out a male slave of her
people and purchase him from the Dwarf slaver. She instead
finds Mak, whom she is drawn to but is in rough shape. She
knows he is Human and not part wolf as she is, but decides she
will purchase him. What she finds as she heals him is that he
might be the mate she figured she would never have? Will he
help her complete her journey, and will he be strong enough to
care for her as herself?
The Way of the Wolf is the
first book in the Northlanders Series by Shelby Morgen. It is
easily a stand alone story about finding one’s true love in
the most unexpected place. Ms. Morgen does a wonderful job of
setting the scene of her imaginary world which is full of
shape shifters, Orcs, Dwarfs and Humans. I found the
characters well developed and interesting, and the sexual
scenes quite hot. It should be noted that some people will
find the one scene where Cass and Mak mate in wolf form
disturbing, but in the context of the story, it makes perfect
sense. I found The Way of the Wolf intriguing
and a great start to a new series. |
