Melody is a high-powered, driven
attorney on the verge of either a nervous breakdown or a
heart attack. She has managed to fire thirty-eight
assistants in the span of six months, rivaling Murphy
Brown’s record. She is continually trying to live up to her
father’s expectations, and disappointment that she was a
girl, even after his death. When her partner talks her into
taking a two week survival course in Alaska to straighten
out her head, she decides one night to throw caution to the
wind and does it.
Hunter McFadden is a Scotsman by birth
and a retired Chicago Cop by trade. Now he runs an Alaskan
Wilderness Survival Course. He feels duped that the Mel he
accepted is actually Melody. But, since no one will pick
her up for two weeks, he is highly attracted to her, and she
looks like hell, he decides that he will take her through
the course.
Will they both let their guards down
long enough for the heat they feel between them to take hold
and maybe even leak into their hearts? Will Mel learn that
there is more to life than the law?
Braving the Storm was a
heartfelt story about finding what you really want out of
life, and what you may have to do to get it. I thought it
was interesting that both characters seem to fight what they
felt, though they were both single. But the way this played
into the overall story is what helped to make this book
really work. I found Braving the Storm
a wonderful hot and spicy romance set in the cool
setting of Alaska.
