Aphrodite, the goddess of love, is
living in 1844 London, after being banished there by her
husband. She’s bored with the cold of England, and the
coldness of the Victorian people of the time. She bewitches
a necklace to help bring two people together, and then
visits a party to choose the necklace’s recipient.
Emily Rogers’s father is determined to
find her a good match. When the family hosts a party, a
mysterious guest drops a necklace, and Emily picks it up and
immediately feels aroused, a feeling she doesn’t quite
understand. When she passes William Coxe, the family’s
butler in the hallway, she touches him and the feeling
spreads to him.
The couple enjoys a few nights of
passion, then seek out the necklace’s owner to return it.
When they do, the spell is broken, or is it? Can a woman
from a gentile family fall in love, and stay with, a
household staff member?
Aphrodite’s Necklace is
an entertaining tale. Emily and William were attracted to
each other to begin with, and it took the necklace to see
past the differences in their class. I enjoyed watching
these two discover each other and realize they were in love.
Aphrodite added an interesting depth to
the story, which caught the essence of the times perfectly.
Aphrodite’s Necklace is
an interesting addition to the Torrid Tarot line. |
