Madison Wade and her newly adopted teenage son Ethan, have moved from Philadelphia to Tennessee. Sherriff Gabe Wyatt has been attracted to Maddie since she moved to his quiet town, but getting close to Maddie has been very difficult. Just when Gabe thinks he’s making progress, tragedy strikes and threatens to come between them.  When Ethan goes camping with his friend Jordan Gray and Jordan’s stepfather Steve McPherson, the trip takes a horrible turn and Steve is dead. The boys manage to get themselves off the mountain but Jordan is deeply traumatized and Ethan is hiding a terrible secret.  Only Ethan and Jordan know what really happened and Jordan isn’t talking. Everyone in town thinks Ethan killed Steve. When all signs point to Ethan, Gabe is forced to investigate creating a wedge between himself and Maddie.  How did Steve really die? And who will be next?

Pitch Black is a who-done-it with a touch of romance. Ethan acts like a typical brooding teenager but his life has been anything but. He survived against all odds. Maddie is kind hearted and full of tenacity. Gabe is strong, intelligent, and noble. Pitch Black is a suspenseful story that kept me guessing until its thrilling and dramatic end!
