Mason Philips has been in love with his brother’s best friend, Jack Spencer, for ten years. Mason is reluctantly giving up on Jack. Pining after his brother’s straight friend is only giving him heartache. When Mason branches out on his own, he catches Carl Wallace’s eye. With the help of his new friends, Mason finally gets what he wants, but Wallace isn’t giving up Mason so easily.

Misunderstandings, regrets, and harsh words spoken in anger create a soap opera-like story full of angst. Some of the sex scenes are pretty hot, especially the ménage, and the stalker is pretty creepy, which is cool.   Overall, A Promise Kept has too much character-driven drama.
