Kaitlyn Chambers has agreed to go to the Scarlet Oak plantation and rid it of the ghosts that refuse to leave its halls.  Kaitlyn knows this is the biggest assignment she has ever accepted, but has no worries because she knows her own powers and strengths.  However she finds more at Scarlet Oak then she expected upon arriving, including a serial murderer.

Colin Winter is an FBI Assistant Deputy Director who has been assigned to finish the investigation at Scarlet Oak and find the murderer.  Colin is strictly by the book and does not believe in magic of any form.  He is surprised to arrive and find Kaitlyn, whom he had previously met.  He is even more surprised by the passion that arises between them.

Kaitlyn and Colin both have assignments to carry out and soon find that they will have to combine their efforts to make it out alive.  Kaitlyn can use her craft to defeat the ghosts but will she be able to break through Colin’s prejudice and gain the trust she needs to win the day?

Truth or Dare is the final chapter of the Curse of the Midnight Star novels that are based on a plantation in Louisiana. Truth or Dare combines suspense, various types of magic and ghosts in a story about a gemstone.  Kaitlyn is a strong witch who believes in her magic, and her ability to protect the living and rid the plantation of ghosts.  Colin is a straight-laced cop who believes only in what can be seen and proven scientifically.  Colin must face and believe in Kaitlyn and the idea that there is much more to the world then he ever imagined possible.  Truth or Dare has a great suspenseful and magical plot that will keep you on the edge.  I found Kaitlyn and Colin to be strong and believable individually.  However, I just could not feel the romance that sprung up between them.  I did not get a feeling of trust between them, no matter what the words said.  Even though I found the romance portion a bit lacking, I think the suspense and magical portions of Truth or Dare make it well worth the time to read.
