Kayla was betrayed by a former lover and
sold into slavery. Given as a gift to Captain Sixx, her inner
dragon immediately becomes active and wants to be let loose.
While Kayla finds Sixx very attractive, she is hurt that he
won’t set her free. Her human side slowly accepts Sixx’s
grumpiness and somewhat harsh ways and her dragon side
rejoices in finding its mate. It’s too bad though that Sixx
has no idea that she is a princess. Although Kayla thinks he
could accept that side of her better than finding out she can
breathe fire.
Captain Sixx, while intrigued by the
dirty, foul smelling urchin given to him as a gift, does not
have time for a slave. That is, until said slave takes a bath
and Sixx finds himself instantly aroused by Kayla. Chaining
her to his bed sounds like a great idea and he comes to relish
the passionate nights he spends with his own personal love
slave. So what if she oftentimes refers to herself as Zayn?
Sixx has his own secrets. Secrets that he has no intention of
revealing.
I have been on pins and needles waiting
on Kayla’s story ever since reading the first three Shadow of
the Dragon books. Instantly hooked to this wonderful family,
I hoped that Kayla would find her mate. I was not
disappointed at all with Dragon’s Prey.
Sixx could not have been better suited to be the man for
Kayla, much less Zayn. I loved how he treated Kayla with
respect and his love for her shined through. Kayla’s
heartfelt wish to be able to shift to Zayn was written in such
a way that I kept crossing my fingers for it to happen.
I absorbed this story completely and can’t wait to read it
again. Tielle St. Clare has a keeper in Dragon’s Prey
and I offer congratulations on a story well told |
