Would you call
yourself a "pantser" or a "plotter"?
Definitely a plotter, although I'm open to any freak burst
of insight that might add spice, or a unique twist, to the
story. I plan and research extensively. Strangely enough,
I actually enjoy that process.
What is your
perfect writing atmosphere?
Complete
solitude. I'm the most creative in the quiet of morning
with a strong pot of coffee to get the juices flowing.
What leads you
to the characters you write about?
Occasionally
I will meet, or hear about, someone I find fascinating
enough to generate an entire book around. Mostly, it's the
needs of the story itself that dictate the type of character
I create.
Where were you
when you got your first contract? Who did you tell first?
At home in Corvallis, Oregon. I called my dad first. He's
one of my biggest fans.
Romance leads
people to expect a happily ever after. Have you ever had to
fight a character to achieve his/hers?
Oh yeah. One in particular comes to mind. He was such
"damaged goods" that I really had to work on making his
journey to lasting love/trust believable.
Have you found
yours or are you still looking for it?
Thankfully,
I have and he is such a joy to be with! I guess I finally
kissed enough toads that I found my prince.
If I followed
you for a day, what would I see or experience?
Depends
on the day. If I'm not at work, you'll watch a few hours of
writing and internet browsing, followed by a brief burst of
housework, punctuated by a long hike with the dog before
settling down to read, play on the internet again and watch
movies.
What would be
your perfect "me" day?
Writing…a
two hour facial that leaves me like jello…reading a good
book while lounging on the deck (overlooking the ocean, of
course…taking a dip in the hot tub…eating pizza in front of
the fireplace while snuggling on the couch with my husband.
Ahhhh...sheer bliss!
What are some
of your favorite things in life?
Besides
travel and writing? I love to geocache. I also adore good
sci-fi movies, chocolate-covered strawberries and a great
Cabernet.
What character
or couple would you love to bring to life, if you could and
why?
Beravael
and Remala from Savior in Time. so I could watch them fight!
What do you
currently have in the wings and what is just around the
corner?
She Who Dares, Wins is a contemporary romantic suspense
story that is currently in the hands of my editor. It's the
prequel to Guarding the Coast.
I'm also working on the third book in my FORESTAL sci-fi
romance series. Amanda's Glory should be out in late
summer.
Some authors
say they are open to bribes to drop hints? If you would be,
what type of bribe would it be? (Not that I'm suggesting
anything)
One hour alone with Gerard Butler. My husband has already
told me that he would understand
Anything else
you would like to tell the readers?
I'll
be at the RT Convention this April. If you see me there,
please stop and say "hello".
How can a
reader contact you and/or find out what you are doing?
My website is -

My email address is
samanthagail@mac.com and you can also
befriend me on Facebook.
I have website contests every month, as well as participate
in multi-author contests coordinated by my editor. It's
really worthwhile to take a few minutes to check them all
out. |
