When Jaden Sinclair re-released her
Shifter books I knew that I had to read them. And once I
read them I wanted the scoop on what Jaden was working on!
She was nice enough to sit down with me and share her
thoughts.
When you start writing, do you
already have the story plotted out or do you let the
characters dictate what will happen?
I never plot a
story out. They talk, I write and it all comes together
later on in the story. Now if I'm working on a series then
there’s a pretty good chance after the first one or second a
plot has formed for them all, but not always.
Do you draw inspiration for your
characters from real life?
Sometimes.
Sometimes I will name a character after someone I know, or
sometimes I made a bad character from someone I don't like.
I'll give you an example. My ex-sister in law is a bad guy
in one of my new books. Couldn't resist it.
Any fun stories you could share?
Not really lol,
I'm kind of boring in my corner with the computer.
Name one thing that your readers
would be surprised to know about you.
Hmm, that's a
good one. Well how about I knit when I get real stuck with a
scene.
Do you have a guilty pleasure?
I snack too
much!
What do you need before you start
writing?
More time and
a muse that will let me get one book done at a time!
Anything that is just a must have or
the creative juice don’t flow?
Nope.
Does music influence your writing?
Yes, very
much.
If so, do any of your stories have a
theme song?
I don't have
anything specific. Many different songs works for different
things. I have stuff when I need something sad to come out,
sexy for those hot scenes, up beat for fighting, and
sometimes I can just hear a song on the radio and it
triggers something.
If your story was optioned for a
movie, who would play your characters?
The only one I
can think of is Billy Writh for Dedrick. Love him in lost
boys and red shoe diaries. YUM! Lol. Think I mold a few of
my guys from him.
Where were you when you got your
first contract?
I was at home
having my usual doubts about being good enough. See I have
wanted to be an author for so long and was going nuts with
the wait to hear back on the submission. I still do that
now!
Who did you tell first?
My husband. He
has been very supportive about this and knows it’s my dream.
I'm very lucky to be able to stay home and write.
What are you currently working on?
I think it
would be easier to ask what I'm NOT working on. There isn’t
a one book at a time for me. I usually do work on many at
the same time. So to answer that, I would have to list
them. Lol, ready?
Shifter 5
A vampire series
New sci-fi series
And a little on the next Captive book.
(a lot huh)
Where can readers find The Shifter
Series?
They are all
listed on my web site.
www.jadensinclair.com and at
www.amirapress.com
Any other tidbits about upcoming
Shifters you would like to share?
Just that what
you think you might know probably isn't it. If you haven't
figured it out by now I love to put a twist in a book that
you don't usually see and I haven't stopped yet. There is a
hint in Dedrick's Taming that isn't what you think.
More is hinted in The Prowling and it all comes out
in book 5. I know I might be a little confusing there, but
trust me. I don't think you will see this twist coming.
Although you know how much I love
your Shifters, Adrian is my favorite LOL, would you care to
tell us a little about your other books?
Well I have a
few out I guess..lol Lets' see, there is a 3 book Pluto
series. Interplanetary Passion, Outerplantary Sensation and
Solar Seduction. They are all about Pluto men who are
matched up with Earth girls and discover a plot to break a
treaty between Earth and Pluto
I also have a
2 book series, SETH and SHILO, that are about two computer
programs bound to be free and live as humans. Book one is
finished and trying to work on book 2.
Is there one, besides the Shifters,
that is your particular favorite?
Believe it or
not, I really don't have one favorite book. I'm sort of my
worst enemy when it comes to my writing, so I never really
say one is a favorite.
Also, I know you and I have talked
about it and you know I love the way you've reworked the
Shifters. What inspired you to go back and rewrite them?
It was time
with the rewrites of the shifters. Since the first one has
come out I have learned so much with my writing. It was time
to use what I've learned with the books that I'm better
known for.
Do you have a book where you see the
Shifter series definitely ending? Or are you open to more?
Right now I
see them ending with book 7.
Now that's not
to say there couldn't be another set started. After all
Adrian does have a few kids...lol.. But right now it's not
planned.
Like I said
before, I never plot a book or series, so I never know where
they are going. So I suppose I could be open for more.
