Rosa recently had the chance to visit with a
very talented author. So, without further delay let’s hear
from
Dee Dawning

Joyfully Reviewed is thrilled that you could sit down and do a
lovely interview with us. Are you thrilled about your new book
"Legs" coming out?
Before I answer that I’d like to thank Joyfully Reviewed for having
me. I really appreciate it. Now, about Legs. Yes, Rosa, I’m totally
pumped that Legs is out. The initial reaction has been terrific and
several readers have sought me out and told me how great they
thought it was.
I see that you are very diverse in your genres, is there one that is
your favorite to write?
With the exception of one Fantasy/Sci-fi novelette all my work has
been in various sub-genres of contemporary. Chick-lit,
Action/thrillers, Erotic Romance etc. But I intend to branch out
even more. My latest WIP is a paranormal/fantasy entitled Hollywood
Witches.
To answer your question, I like ‘em all.
Tell JR and your readers about Dee Dawning?
Umm. I hate to talk about myself, I’m such an anomaly in this
business.
I will say this much. I’m a happily married man who is pushing
retirement age. I live in Arizona, but if you’ve read any of my
books you know that many of them have a Las Vegas connection. That’s
because I grew up there and lived there for over thirty years.
Most people know you’re witty and humorous, do you think that your
humor shows in your books?
I hope so. Some of my books like Fortune Cookies are meant to be
funny and sexy while others like my forthcoming July release are
more serious. Even so, they all have some amusing moments and
hopefully readers think they’re fun reads. If you read one of my
books and don’t chuckle at least once, you gotta be a grump.
Do you see yourself as being unique in the literary industry?
Aren’t we all unique? I think maybe I approach things a little
different, but I’m sure I’m not unique. The primary goal of my books
is to entertain the reader and in that respect I think I succeed.
Hopefully the readers think so too and when they want to be
entertained they look for another Dee Dawning book.
Do you feel like you have an interesting perspective in the writing
of a love scene?
Oh, those love scenes! I hate them when I’m writing ‘em, but I love
them when I read ‘em. They are soooo hard to write well, but when I
do, zowie, I’m climbing the walls (And I hope y’all are too!)
Dee,
you feel that part of yourself comes out onto the pages when you
write?
Yeah, I would say so. I have developed my own style, a little zany, a
little irreverent, and hopefully a lot sexy.
Is there a favorite genre that you read?
This is going to sound strange, but I don’t read that many romance
novels. Why? Because, I don’t want to be influenced in my writing. I
want my ideas and writing to be pure. Not that I don’t trust myself,
but I can see where the line between my words and others might get
blurred.
So what do I read? Mysteries, non-fiction, humor, suspense, thrillers
and some horror.
Is there a favorite hobby you enjoy when you’re not writing?
Writing seems to be my hobby. I do enjoy making book covers, however.
I made the book covers for three of my upcoming releases. I also
dabble in watercolor painting.
When did you know that writing was something you wanted to do?
Oh, about five minutes after I started my first book, which by the
way has yet to be published. (It is available as a POD though.)
If you could go anywhere in the world that you haven't been, where
would you go?
Tee hee I’d take a year off, still writing mind you, and travel
around the world. Must see places would be, New York, Paris, Rome,
Greece, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, Venice, Prague,
St Petersburg and…oh that’s enough for now.
What do you consider a perfect day?
Everyday is a perfect day, unless something happens to dampen it. I
enjoy life and look forward to each new day.
Is there a favorite sexual fantasy that you haven't put in your
books yet?
The only thing I haven’t dabbled in yet (that I would consider) is
f/m/m…m.
I started to write a scene once where a sexually adventurous former
beauty queen wanted to offer herself for a six man gang bang at ten
thousand a pop. Never finished the scene or the book for that
matter. Decided it was way too raunchy.:)
Does your family support your writing and are they your biggest fan?
The writing, yes. The genre I write in, I’m afraid not. That’s why
I’ll be writing more mainstream in the future.
Is there any news or books coming soon or upcoming release you would
like to share?
Thought you’d never ask. Yes, I have four new books coming out. A
short novel titled Love and Seduction in Las Vegas, a novelette
called By The Book and two shorties—Gizmo and Carla’s Playbook or
Going Deep. Love and Seduction is scheduled for release, July 11th
and unless I miss my bet everyone will love the ending.
Here’s the Blurb for
Love and
Seduction in Las Vegas:
Is handsome,
young Bobby Kramer a dream or a nightmare?
Thrust into her
life one night, by peculiar circumstances, Loretta Bishop, seventeen
years Bobby’s senior, has been tasked with taking the shy, modest
pretty boy under her wing and turning him into a lady’s man.
Free spirited
and sexually adventurous, Loretta is eminently qualified to teach
him the elements of pursuit, seduction and how to please women.
At first, being
with Bobby seems like a dream, but clouds begin to gather from
Loretta’s spotty sometime sordid past. Feeling burdened by guilt
after Bobby asks to marry her, Loretta is no longer able to continue
and runs away.
Now, it’s up to
Bobby to put the methods Loretta has taught him to practical use.
Will he succeed and parlay his new talents into love, wealth and
power?
Do you enjoy hearing from your readers and what is the best way of
getting in touch with you?
Is there a skyscraper in New York? I write for the readers pleasure.
Of course I’d love to hear from them. GOOD or… bad. Email:
